Spring Cleanup Postponed

The forecast is not in our favour and many of our neighbours are dealing with unfavourable conditions. QTN’s Spring Cleanup will be postponed until next Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. We hope to see you then and if you are looking to volunteer tomorrow consider heading down the hill to our bay ward neighbours to help fill sandbags for flood prevention (click for more information).

Original Post: We’re nearing the end of winter and as much as we love the snow, it tends to hide a fair bit of trash.

Come help clean up our neighbourhood. We will be cleaning our greenspaces (Frank Ryan Park, Elmhurst Park, Connaught Park, Pinecrest Creek Trail) and the surrounding areas.

Meet us at Frank Ryan Field House on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM to get supplies and choose an area to clean. Latex gloves and garbage bags will be provided. In the event of rain, we will reschedule to Saturday, May 4, 2019.

If you are willing to help coordinate alternate pickup sites for supplies, such as the frequently recommended Connaught Park entrance, please send us an email as we would appreciate your help.

Additional Information to keep QTN clean!

Plant a tree! Help maintain QTN’s beautiful canopy

One of the most popular pieces of feedback that the planning committee receives is the neighbourhood’s appreciation for our trees, parks, and forests. We’re asking you to help maintain QTN’s beautiful canopy and consider planting a tree this spring!

You might be eligible for a free tree!

You might be eligible for the Trees in Trust Program that will supply and plant a tree on City-owned street frontage for no charge to the home owner. For more information, consult the City of Ottawa web site.

Not sure what to plant?

A list of native tree species recommended for planting in the Ottawa Region is available from Ecology Ottawa.

Why should I plant a tree?

There are lots of benefits of trees, take a minute and see what the experts say.

Community Yard Sale & Curbside Giveaway – June 8th

Back by popular demand is the spring community garage sale. It has been scheduled for Saturday June 8th from 8:00 AM to noon (rain or shine).

The association will put up signs and we encourage all participating residents to put a sign up as well! Any residents who want to participate can put up a table the morning of the sale.

Not interested in selling but need to do some spring cleaning? This weekend is also the City of Ottawa’s curbside giveaway weekend (June 8th and June 9th).

Not going to be around on June 8th or 9th but have items to give?
