Volunteers Needed: Frank Ryan Park Outdoor Rink

Frank Ryan Park’s community rink can only operate with the support of generous volunteers. Please sign up HERE to help keep the field house open for our friendly neighbourhood skaters! How demanding is this role? The only thing you need to do is show up with a cell phone.

You can choose to play hockey outside or read a book inside. It’s a great activity for new residents to meet your neighbours or for High Schoolers over 16 in need of volunteer hours! Retired? Regularly coming out to skate already? Sounds perfect! Those expressing interest will be contacted with detailed information on scheduling and the limited responsibilities involved. Sign up HERE.

If you have any questions please contact qtncommunity@gmail.com and we will put you in touch with the rink coordinator, Caroline.

Stage 2 West Pre-construction Update: Vegetation & Tree Removals

The city has provided us with an update on the pre-construction work as part of the Stage 2 LRT Project (O-Train West Extension):

The project contractor (Kiewit-Eurovia-Vinci) is progressing with vegetation and tree removal work across both east and west alignments. In the coming weeks they will move towards Connaught Park and the greenspace to the north, for removals within the area circled in yellow in the attached satellite image. I’ve also attached public notices that were distributed directly to homes in September and contain additional information regarding tree compensation that will occur towards the end of the project.

Here are the related documents that we encourage you to review:

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Alison Lynch (Stakeholder Relations, Rail Construction Program).
