Update on the QTN Storm Sewer Project including Traffic Implications

Councillor Kavanagh’s office has organized an update on the sewer project, which will include discussion of the road closures and associated traffic impacts. The meeting will take place on April 9th at 9:30 AM. If you are unable to attend, a recording will be made available afterward on the Bay Ward Bulleting which we will share with you as well.

If possible, please submit your questions to qtncommunity@gmail.com by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, April 5th so staff have time to prepare more thorough answers.

Once the sewer project is completed, more discussion about traffic calming in that area will take place. The Councillor’s office is also looking at other methods for addressing concerns about pedestrian and cycling safety across QTN, such as the raised pedestrian crossovers that have been proposed as part of the construction of a sidewalk on Connaught Ave.

Update on Connaught & Henley sidewalks: Presentation of options, feedback, and survey

We are happy to share an update on the sidewalk plans for Connaught Avenue and Henley Street. The City’s website outlines the plans, including two options on Connaught, a presentation, survey, and a point of contact should you have additional questions or feedback.

As previously shared, Councillor Kavanaugh is also hosting a consultation meeting next Tuesday, March 2nd. Please see our earlier post for more information.

Public Consultation on Connaught and Henley Sidewalks

As announced in the Bayward Bulletin, there is an upcoming public consultation on the Connaught and Henley sidewalks which will be built as part of the Stage 2 LRT and the QTN Sewer Rehabilitation projects respectively. See below for more information and visit Councillor Kavanagh’s website to RSVP:

There will be a new sidewalk built on Connaught in the next few years to improve connectivity. This is a Phase 2 project from the Council-approved 2013 Ottawa Pedestrian Plan. A new sidewalk along Connaught Avenue would complete a missing link in the pedestrian network providing improved connectivity to Severn Avenue Public School, Woodroffe High School, the future Queensview O-Train Station and to the pathway connections leading to Pinecrest Creek Pathway.

On Tuesday, March 2nd from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Councillor Kavanagh is hosting this meeting to begin the consultation phase of this project.  On Monday, February 22nd, 2021, the City will publish a dedicated webpage (ottawa.ca/connaughtavenue) to provide engagement opportunities and updates on the status of the project. Information on the Henley sidewalk project will also be included.

NOTE: The Henley sidewalk is part of the Queensway Terrace Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project.
